About the PTA
Programming & Community
The Bridlemile Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) brings families, teachers, and staff together to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and the community to advocate for all children.
Through dedicated volunteers, the PTA enriches the educational experience by organizing community events and enrichment programs, coordinating volunteer support, and connecting families with resources. Signature programs include the GROW Portland school-wide garden curriculum, Freaky Friday, and Family Night.
Since the 2025–26 school year, the majority of funding for PTA programs and events has come from the Bridlemile Foundation, with additional support from PTA memberships and Freaky Friday.

The PTA holds two types of meetings—Board Meetings and General Meetings—each serving a different role in supporting our students and school community.
-
These are working sessions for PTA board members and committee leads to plan events, review budgets, and coordinate programs. Board meetings often handle detailed discussion and prep work so the broader membership can vote efficiently at general meetings.
Board meetings are closed meetings. Learn more about why here.
-
This is where official votes happen—such as approving the budget, electing officers, or adopting programs. All dues-paying PTA members can vote, and the meetings usually include updates on school events, finances, and major decisions. General meetings are open to all community member. You do not need to be a member to attend, only to vote.
