Bridlemile Bike Bus & Fest

Bridlemile Bike Bus

What is the Bike Bus?

The Bridlemile Bike Bus is a parent-led group ride to school using safe neighborhood routes with adult ride leaders. Students ride together in a structured group — like a “bus on bikes” — building independence, confidence, and community.

We launched on Earth Day and continue regular weekday rides throughout the spring (April–June), weather dependent.

SCHEDULE and ROUTE*

7:15 - Tursi Soccer Field

7:40 - SW 54th Ave & SW Hamilton St

7:45 - Bike bus arrives at Bridlemile

*These are the only active stops right now. As participation grows, we plan to add additional neighborhood stops along the listed routes.

*For safety and privacy reasons, detailed route maps and timing are shared with participating families rather than published publicly.

Communication & Updates

Families can stay connected in two ways:

Group Text
Text 503-536-5471 to be added to the Bike Bus group text list.
We use this for:

  • Morning ride confirmations

  • Weather cancellations

  • Timing reminders

  • Special announcements

Live Location Sharing
During active rides, lead adults share live Apple location so families can see where the group is in real time and estimate arrival at school. Location sharing is active only during ride times and shared directly with participating families.

Why should my student participate in bike bus?

FUN

What could be better than meeting up with your friends, listening to a kid-curated playlist, ringing our bells, and riding into school together?

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Studies have shown that kids who get exercise before school tend to have better focus, concentration, and cognitive function in the classroom.

ENVIRONMENT

Riding a bike is a sustainable, climate- friendly form of transportation and a great alternative to a car or bus.

COMMUNITY

Participating in bike bus gives us an opportunity to connect with other families from other grades and classrooms on a regular basis. You’ll get to know your neighbors and make new friends along the way.

EXERCISE

This is an easy way to add a little bit of movement into your daily routine.

SKILL BUILDING

There are many physical and cognitive skills involved in bike riding: coordination, communication, navigation, traffic safety, balance, and more. Bike buses provide a fun, social, and safe way for kids to practice skills they’ll use for the rest of their lives.

Safe Riding Tips

WEAR A HELMET

Everyone under the age of 16 is required to wear a helmet in the state of Oregon.

STICK TOGETHER

Stay with the group.
